My work is more or less like me: full of contrasts.
What does that mean? I like abstract acrylic painting the same way I like clean watercolor illustration. I listen to Hard Rock and a couple of minutes later to Classical or Jazz music. One morning I wear jeans and a hoody, a couple of hours later I dress up in a suit. I guess pigeonhole thinking does not work for me.
Most of the time, however, I work with acrylics on larger scale canvas or paper. I use a lot of different brushes and palette knifes. I get inspired by everything I see, hear, feel, smell or taste: from the moment I get up in the morning until the last thought I have in the evening. My brain absorbs everything like a sponge, mixes every impression until they create one smooth intuitive idea.
I once asked a young lady who was looking at one of my paintings, if I might tell her about the idea behind the painting. She looked a somewhat confused and amazed at me and told me, “ No, why should you? Either the painting catches me the first second I look at it or not. I dont need the story behind. I see my own.”
With every picture I create, I hope to listen to a new story that YOU might tell me, a story YOU see, what YOU feel when you look at my painting.
